(Pt. 3) From Running a Farm to Building a Real Estate Empire with Trevis McConaghy

How do you turn messy deals into opportunities?
 
One way is “selling by storytelling”—and Trevis McConaghy has mastered the fine art of doing that on top of being a veteran at finding hidden value in properties.
 
Another way is to get the dime every time and to move with velocity.
 
In this third and final part of the interview, Trevis offers advice for people who do not have the experience that he has. He shares an anecdote about a joint venture deal that illustrates how he structures deals and clarifies a misconception about capital. He also talks about what he learned from his travels and how he applies it in his real estate investments.

From Running a Farm to Building a Real Estate Empire with Trevis McConaghy - Part 1

Good deals are found but great deals are made.
It’s all about finding the hidden value within your properties, adding those values, and then monetizing them. If you’re not sure how to go about all that, this episode is for you!
In the first of this 3-part series, I chat with Trevis McConaghy, a farmer-turned-real estate veteran based in Saskatchewan. He is what I call a “transaction engineer” who, at the time of recording, had a portfolio of over 200 properties which he had built one house at a time. Without the hurdle of needing funding, he was able to scale his real estate business while having the freedom to enjoy other things like traveling.
Trevis gives us an overview of the challenges in farming that inspired him to get into real estate. He then breaks down his first joint venture and a few other deals that he was able to acquire through refinancing alone. He also talks about his travel business, what it was like to move houses—literally!—from Alberta to Saskatchewan, and his transition to multifamily.

Self-Storage 101 with Ruben Ugarte

It’s never too late to get into real estate investing.
 
Take it from Ruben Ugarte. He is a coaching client of mine who first got into real estate at the age of 55 and is crushing it! He currently has 52 apartments and 159 self-storage units in his portfolio—with more in the works.

How to Become the Turtle in Fifth Gear

Not every investment has to be shiny, fix-and-flips or wholesales because the true generational wealth creator is residential rentals.
 
The title of this episode comes from an impactful presentation I saw a years ago from Terry Paranych. Terry is a one of North America's top Realtors© located in Edmonton. On top of being a top producing Real Estate team, Terry is a powerhouse Real Estate investor.
 
In this episode, I chat with the Equity King, Marcus Maloney of the “We Love Equity Real Estate Show”! I give the short version of my 20-year real estate journey, diving into the lessons that I’ve learned along the way.

7 Real Estate Lessons from Coach Ted Lasso

How are you elevating your game?  Are you a lifelong student of personal development? 
 
After a month of daily live broadcasting and 'putting in the reps' to become a better communicator, this presentation was created as an exercise in doing something that 'scares you'.

In today’s episode, I’m going to talk about a currency that has more value than cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or NFTs...

You might scoff or roll your eyes, but we live in an era of technology where views and likes can translate to more clients or more sales. But how do you connect with people whose worlds have widened and attention spans have shortened?
 
If you’ve been following my podcast for a while, you should know that I love a good acronym. I’m going to discuss my CLEAR formula, the EAR method of attention, and the ELF strategy, diving deep into each step so that you can keep moving with velocity.
 
I will share some examples of people in and outside of real estate who have taken their businesses to the next level. I will also present social media posts which I think did well in terms of getting their message across and throw in a few more tips (improv, anyone?) so that you can scale your real estate business.

The Infinite Game; Real Estate Investing Success Strategies

Most people only look at an asset from a standpoint of up to 5 years. And while there’s nothing wrong with getting into the transactional side of real estate, if you want to really build wealth this way, you need to be ready for the long game.
 
That means buying and holding properties for—at least!—10 years.
